Diego Maradona, the legendary Argentinian football figure has a life story full of passion, drama and professionalism. Maradona was born on the 30th of October in 1960 in Villa Fiorita, Buenos Aires, in a poor family. His early life revolved around football: his burning desire to become one of the best in this sport was already present as a child.

At an early age, growing up in the slums of Buenos Aires, Maradona stood out with his talent at a young age. He was only 8 years old when he joined the Argentinos Juniors Academy. There his exceptional abilities were quickly recognized and he soon became a member of the senior team. He made his debut in the Argentinian first division in 1976, at just age 15.

In the early 1980's, Maradona moved to Europe, where he began his international career with Barcelona. However, he achieved a real breakthrough in the Italian team Napoli. Here he became a world-renowned player and achieved great success with the club. During his time at Napoli, Maradona was not just a football player, he became the symbol of an entire city and even of a whole country. He became one of the greatest sources of example for people living poverty, and his fantastic performances on the pitch made him one of the biggest figures in the Italian league.

The peak of Maradona's career was in 1986, when he won the World Cup with the Argentinian national team. This tournament also elevated him to a different level, when Maradona got the nickname 'The Hand of God', scored two memorable goals against England in the quarter-finals. His first goal, which the world later referred to as 'The Goal of the Century', was scored with his hand, but the referee did not see it, and therefore it was declared valid. His second goal, on the other hand, went down in football history as one of the most beautiful goals in the world.

Starting in the mid-1990's, Maradona's football career slowly took off, but his passion and loyalty to the game never left him. He also tried as a trainer and later as a manager, but these attempts did not bring the same level of success which he achieved on the pitch.

At every stage of his life, Maradona remained true to his roots and to the people who stood by him throughout. His death in November 2020 shocked and shook the football world and the entire world mourned his loss.
